Managing Patient Depression and Suicidality: GP Peer Group Learning | Various Locations

An ideal opportunity to have open, honest discussions with colleagues, a psychiatrist and local GP with a special interest in mental health care, about the management of patient depression and suicidality in primary care. 2 hour, case-based conversation over a shared meal. Diabetes WA Connect – a new way to help clinicians with diabetes management in the Kimberley. Seng Khee is a graduate of the University of Western Australia, with physician and specialist training in Endocrinology. He completed his PhD research in human insulin physiology at the Garvan Institute before returning to Perth to commence his position as an Endocrinologist at Royal Perth Hospital in 2002 where he continues currently, including a 12-year role as previous Head of Department. As an Associate Professor in his Clinical Academic role at the University of Western Australia, Seng has research interests in diabetes complications and is involved with the UWA MD program in the areas of clinical skills development and assessment. His interests also extend into supporting new models of service delivery and improving access to care for patients with diabetes.

The Rural Health West CPD REACT+ workshop is designed to assist Western Australian Visiting Medical Practitioners to maintain their emergency knowledge and skills, and gain formal assessment towards their emergency credentialing, as required by WA Country Health Service. Covering medical emergencies, major trauma and cardiac arrest in adults and children, and associated lifesaving procedural skills training, REACT+ is a highly interactive workshop. Participants are provided with audio-visual pre-learning materials and the course consists almost entirely of small group practical skills stations and simulated scenarios.
